Urban Water Strategy for Gdansk

Gdansk, Poland –

An integrated strategy for water in the city
It is the ambition of Gdansk to bring back the historical relation with its waters and to create a city that is resilient to the future. From this perspective the City took the initiative for an Urban Water Strategy.

The strategy provides for a set of recommendations to increase the climate resilience and flood protection, and simultaneously strengthen the urban quality and socio-economic strength of Gdansk by taking advantage of the presence of water in the city.

The Urban Water Strategy is prepared by a group of local Polish experts and Dutch Consultants KuiperCompagnons (urban planning) and ARCADIS (water). The project is supported by the Dutch Governmental program ‘Partners for Water’.
