Warta River Development Strategy

Throughout history, the Warta river has flooded the old city of Poznan. That’s why Poznan city’s expansions were set at a safe distance from the river. But, increasingly, the lost relationship
between Poznan and the Warta was perceived as a serious loss.

River qualities
In cooperation with several partners, KC developed a strategy for giving the Warta back to the city and its inhabitants. Obviously, water safety was taken into account, but the focus was identifying ways in which the river’s inherent qualities could benefit living and recreation. The development strategy for the Warta River, including a
financial and economic feasibility study, is in
fact the starting point for a waterfront metamorphosis that will be realised by 2030.
