Totalling eleven urban areas, Moerdijk is the largest community in terms of size in the southwest Netherlands. Its location on the crossroads of waterways, rail and road connections enables a high degree of economic activity plus huge future development potential. There are also opportunities when it comes to landscape development, water-based recreation and new infrastructure. These special assets could become a valuable binding factor for the eleven urban areas of Moerdijk, without sacrificing their individual identities. In future, the area will benefit from having a more recognisable overall character.

Investigating and bringing together the current and future qualities and opportunities of the area in an overall vision was a great challenge for KC. In the years to come, Moerdijk will be seen as an exciting mix of economic activities with villages and small cities, a variety of transport methods, nature sites and recreational possibilities.
