Framework for the Future

Wuhan, China –

KuiperCompagnons is commissioned to provide an urban plan for the development surrounding the new Dongfeng Road in South-West Wuhan. In the design the urban framework is examined closely from an ecological and hydrological perspective. The surrounding lakes are embedded in green and connected through new waterways and ecological corridors. This provides a robust blue-green network and guarantees sufficient amount of green space in the vicinity of all future urban areas. The main ring road is emphasized by tree lanes and slow mobility is encouraged by a secondary network for bicycles and pedestrians.

Through this approach in which we combine different layers into something greater than the sum of its parts, new economic opportunities arise and the overall result is a strong framework that prepares Wuhan for future development.
